I've said this before I will say it again , I can't believe how many people still don't get power conference scheduling. This especially pertains to people like Bill Livingston of the Cleveland Plain dealer who should know better. Schools like Ohio State , Michigan , Alabama , pick anyone you want it doesn't matter. They don't schedule the little sisters of the poor because they want to help them out. Ohio State and everyone else couldn't care less about the athletic programs of schools in conferences like the mac or keeping the money in state. They schedule that way for one reason and it is not for easy wins. It is money for the big boy school only. Lets use Ohio State for an example . They have almost 40 athletic programs to fund. What supplies the funds? Football of course, nothing else. Therefore it is essential that Ohio State has at least 7 and not 1 less home games a year. The lone exception is if they were to play in a kickoff classic like Michigan last year and be compensated for it. If they don't have 7 home games it is a financial disaster for the school and athletic programs would have to be cut and students would not be receiving scholarship money from those sports. What is the only way to guarantee 7 home games. Play mac type schools of course. Why because they don't require home and home that's why. Too add another big boy school would mean years when you might have only 6 home games. This is even more important now that the big ten will be going to a 9 game league schedule. Guess what people this won't change and cannot change for reasons mentioned above. Now I have noticed that most people doing the complaining at least in Ohio State's case have nothing to do with the school at all. Are they or alum of the school actually saying that OSU should lose a home game a year just so they can watch another big boy game? It is more important then the education of young people who might not be able to go to school otherwise? This is the mission of any school, too please fans more then educate? Ohio State , Miami, Ohio, Bowling Green, Toledo, Akron just to mention a few are non-profit public institutions whose mission is to educate not provide fans who mostly have absolutely nothing to do with the school with another big Saturday game.
